As Waterbury HEALTH becomes part of the new UConn Health Community Network (UCHCN), your benefits will transition to UCHCN. Below is everything you need to know to feel prepared and supported.

On your first day of employment with UCHCN, for those who signed their offer letter from UCHCN, you will be automatically enrolled in benefits that are substantially similar to the coverage you had in December 2025. While you cannot make changes until after your first day of employment with UCHCN, you can review your benefit options in advance to prepare for the upcoming review window.

Will my benefits change with the partnership?

Your benefits will transition to UConn Health Community Network on your first day as a UCHCN employee and will be substantially similar to the coverage you received at Waterbury HEALTH in December 2025. This transition is designed to ensure continuity and minimize disruption.

The first day of employment with UCHCN is the official date that you become an employee of the UConn Health Community Network, including UConn Health Waterbury Hospital or one of its affiliates. On this date your UCHCN benefits will become active.

No. On your first day of employment with UCHCN, you will be automatically enrolled in benefit programs that are substantially similar to your coverage with your previous employer in December 2025. No action is required to activate coverage.

No. You may review benefit information in advance, but changes cannot be made until after your first day as a UCHCN employee. However, you will have a 15-day benefits review window to make changes if needed.

If you do not make changes during the 15-day review period, your automatically enrolled benefits will remain in place for the plan year.

On Day 1, your benefits will begin automatically. Shortly after Go-Live, eligible employees will have the opportunity to make changes, add or remove dependents, or enroll for the first time if eligible. If you are a union-covered employee, please refer to your union contract for additional information regarding benefits and eligibility.

Personify Health will manage your medical and pharmacy benefits and will issue your ID cards. ID cards will be available in both physical and digital formats.

Medical plan designs and employee contributions will match your previous options.

Quantum Health offers personalized care navigation services to help you:

  • Find in-network providers
  • Navigate bills or claims
  • Understand your coverage
  • Coordinate care

This added support is designed to help you feel confident and cared for throughout your healthcare journey.

  • Dental (Delta Dental): Comprehensive coverage for preventive, basic, and major services
  • Vision (VSP): Eye exams, glasses, contact lenses, and more through a national network

You will receive:

  • Life Insurance
  • Short-Term Disability (STD)
  • Long-Term Disability (LTD)

The Principal Financial 401(k) retirement plan will be implemented shortly after Day 1 and will require re-enrollment. Please review the Benefits Guide  for additional details, including contribution options and employer match information.

Communications that you may have received from Principal communicated a March 23, 2026, deadline date to allow for rollover processing; however, as long as you request a rollover by April 2, 2026, it will be processed and rolled to the UCHCN 401(k) Plan.

Starting March 16, employees will be eligible to roll over assets from the PMH 401(k) Plan to the UCHCN 401(k) plan.

Eligible employees should have received instructions for enrollment in the Benefits Guide on February 20. Please follow the included instructions to complete the enrollment process.

No. The annual contribution limit does not reset when you move to the UCHCN 401(k) Plan. For 2026, the $24,500 limit applies in total across all retirement plans, not separately for each plan.

  • Dental & Vision: Available digitally or by mail through Delta Dental and VSP

No preparation is required. On your first day as a UCHCN employee, you’ll receive everything you need to make informed, confident benefit choices.

If you experienced a qualifying life event and made changes to your benefits between February 10 and February 28, please review your elections after Day 1 to confirm that your updated elections are accurate.

No. Pre‑existing conditions will not change your benefit coverage. Coverage levels will remain the same and will continue without disruption on Day 1.

We do not anticipate any issues with medication refills. To support continuity and minimize disruption, please refill maintenance medication prescriptions prior to 3/1.

The last day to submit claims for the 2025 plan year is 4/14/2026; however, we highly recommend submitting any claims generated with a date of services from 1/01/2026 through 2/28/2026 at your earliest possible convenience.
